@Jim Passengers being able to turn off the alert indeed seems a good idea, though I think the flight attendants workflow would still be interrupted as there is both an auditory and visual signal if a passenger pushes the button.

I remember that there used to be one call button per seat, but now it is one per row. That undoubtedly reduced the issue.

But both 1. and 2. and useless concerns, so long as the passenger is able to turn the button back off. Hit the wrong button and the light doesn't turn on? Hit it again and then move to the right button.

If the flight attendants wait five seconds after the light goes on before running down the aisle, neither pointless trip nor (much) embarrassment ensues.
